Before I visited Boston beach, I’d read so many blogs warning it was hard to find and easy to miss. Neither could be further from the truth. Located just a stone’s throw away from the famous Boston Jerk Centre stalls, the stunning public Boston beach is easy to reach. There’s even a huge sign right by the turning – so don’t worry you won’t miss it. Boston is yet another example of why public beaches in Jamaica are worth breaking off the shackles of all-inclusive resorts. Take time to discover a slice of real Jamaica.
The silver, white sands and glorious blue sea are backdrop to lush, green tropical palms and plants that surround the area. Bondi Beach, Sydney, Huntington Beach, California and er Boston Beach, Jamaica. Yeap, you read it right. If you thought the only surf spot in Jamaica was down in Bull Bay, you’d be wrong.
With its high waves, Boston Bay has been popular with the Jamaican surf crowd since the 60s. So get your surf on. Or your snorkel if that’s your thing. You don’t even have to go far for your jerk and Redstripe. The beach restaurant serves up from lunchtime til sundown. Rumour has it that this place actually makes the best jerk in Portland…but that’s something you’ll have to find out for yourself.
